H. pylori Stool Antigen Testing: Test-Treat-Test
As described in a recent article in CLP, Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a significant cause of peptic ulcers, infects billions of people of all ages, nationalities, and socioeconomic statuses worldwide. The primary purpose for H. pylori infections diagnostic testing is to identify people with an elevated risk for gastric cancer. Serology tests continue to offer positive results, even for infections that have been cleared. For this reason, the recent guidelines from the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the Houston Consensus Conference on H. pylori, the World Gastroenterology Organisation Global Guidelines, and the American Journal of Managed Care strongly support a test-treat-test approach that includes the treatment of persons who test positive, followed by additional testing after treatment to confirm the eradication of H. pylori.
Stool antigen tests are resource and workflow-friendly while satisfying these guidelines. H. pylori stool antigen tests only detect current disease, making them ideal for test-of-cure analysis post-treatment. The H. PYLORI QUIK CHEK™ test is a non-invasive stool antigen test that assists in detecting current disease within minutes. The H. PYLORI QUIK CHEK™ test provides reliable and actionable results with excellent performance and flexibility leading to improved patient outcomes.
